Claude: He is safe and constructing a new plan. His past actions and aiding of specials are fully coming to the notice of the Company. The core thing is that he won’t ask for help, even when he needs it and it’s readily available which has a lot to do with his own betrayals and everything else he’s seen and been through. His “home” is a safe haven at present. His new “job” is to form a new plan and purpose. There is a choice coming involving a potential ally.

Card reading for Claude 07042008

Right now Claude is comfortable with himself and whom he perceives himself to be. He has learned his history lessons well. He knows where he has come from. His habit of nicking things could become an issue. It is likely his enemies may try to bait him with something very appealing and seemingly easy to steal. While getting supplies in a more conventional way really is not an option for Claude, he must remain mindful of what he takes and where it comes from. Now is not the time to start becoming careless. Despite his gruff demeanor and “everyone’s like the rest, that’s why they’re the rest” philosophy, he really is a good man and does give anonymous aid when he can. He approaches life with his own sense of balance and fairness. His current career is hampered by past failures. Claude needs to remember where he has still succeeded. He has a strong will and a good deal of courage. He will soon take on a heavy burden that would more easily be shouldered if he would allow someone to help him.

Claude took pride in his former job, once, back when he thought he was making a difference and helping folks. What he has been through has left him with a sense of disgust and betrayal. But he has survived. Currently, Claude is safe and comfortable. He has a night journey ahead of him upon which he is seeking something in secret and will be calling on an “old female friend.”

Claude has kept himself away from the fighting and chaos. Nightmares of the past still plague him at times. He is a practical man. He has or will acquire a new group of pigeons and Claude’s luck is about to change for the better. Right now is a quiet time. Claude will receive news of an old debt and will be faced with a choice between two extremes.

Claude, if you find this, feel free to contact me in any manner you feel is safe. I'll do whatever I can to aid you.

Why I just cannot deal with certain concepts

I thought I ought to post about this over here in LJ as 90% of the other sites are mostly G rated and therefore really don’t get into these issues or really post much fic. There are certain issues I just can’t deal with in fic and before anyone misreads me, I thought I ought to clarify what bothers me and why.

I’ll start with the less complicated one: baby!fic where a female character gets pregnant through a plot device rather than loving, passionate, steamy, and smutty sex. I’ve seen this in canon in more than one ‘verse, and I didn’t care for it there either. I never really wanted my own kids and this would be a nightmare come true for me. No passion, no fun, no love, no CHOICE, and all the responsibility. No thanks. Look at what happened in ST:TNG- Troi wasn’t given a choice as to whether she wanted to get pregnant; she was INVADED by an alien life form while trying to sleep. Irregardless of the fact she later chose to keep and raise the resulting child, the fact remains that essentially Troi was VIOLATED.

Now here’s where it gets complicated: het!fic where there is abuse going on. I happen to count teasing a partner and then leaving and having the man “pull out” and ejaculate on the girl as abuse. I also count biting as abuse especially when done to sensitive bits. I dunno where folks get their ideas from but that stuff hurts! There was someone in my past who used to treat me horribly and I don’t care to see anyone else treated this way. Pillow talk and play is one thing, but I don’t like fic that objectifies one partner or the other. Also anal sex of any kind in het!fic is under the abuse category for similar reasons.

That brings me to a point a lot of others get upset over: slash!fic, particularly any slash!fic involving Claude Rains (as far as we know that’s his current last name). There was a time when I couldn’t have cared less about slash!fic and what others wrote. I used to find the concept of Kirk/Spock hilarious. Think about it: Kirk’s so straight if he were a razor you could shave with him and Spock only wants it every 7 years- you really think Kirk is gonna wait that long even if he were so inclined? Then I met that certain someone in my past and not all the damage he did had healed. Some of it maybe never will. I did give it a try. I tried reading more than one Claude related slash!fic, and I really wish I hadn’t. The first was fluffy and a bit out of character, but it still brought on flash backs. Then there was what is really a Rape!fic that I stumbled across where Future!Peter is raping Future!Claude but it was not correctly labeled. That had an even worse effect on me. Maybe it’s because I identify with Claude on some levels, maybe it’s due to the actions of my own “He-whom-I refuse-to-name” and for another thing, Claude has suffered too much in canon, but if folks wanna read/ write this stuff just do the rest of us a favor and please label it appropriately. Granted, as I now make it a point to avoid anything labeled slash especially Claude related slash, not so much an issue for me but others will appreciate the candor. And yes, if anyone is wondering, I didn’t care for a certain scene in Hancock either, even though it was two men and there was no actual sex or slash involved.

And just to clarify, also due to the actions of my own “He-whom-I refuse-to-name” I left sci-fi fandom for a while, almost permanently not to mention life in general. This give you folks an idea how bad this guy was?

So if you write fic and it falls into any of these categories, I won’t be reading it. It’s nothing against you, or any “anti-gay” or “anti-child” sentiment as some may be thinking it’s just my past that I can’t forget and it still hurts.

Despite my erroneous actions, I'm still here. The Company hasn't gotten me and I haven't had any other type of mishap. For some reason I get the impression Bob may be in the group coming for me. I wonder if he plans to try the "I'll solve any monetary problems you have" pitch or if will he just statue-ify me. I would not work for them, especially given that by doing so I'd likely endanger other specials, not to mention that I know how they've mistreated certain other specials, and what they did to one in particular is enough to completely nullify any chance they might have had of me cooperating with them. We'll see what happens. I'll keep you all posted.

Why I Owe Christopher Eccleston Big Time

I’d gotten out of fandom for reasons I’ll go into elsewhere at a later time, but I was still tangentially interested in sci-fi. By the time it happened, I was watching the Sci-Fi Chanel mostly for Ghost Hunters. Then came March 2006 and they ran the 2005 season (Series One) of Doctor Who. Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor had me hooked from “Run!” The more I watched Christopher on Doctor Who the more I wanted to see his other projects that I hadn’t seen yet and re-watch those that I had. I also started looking for pictures and videos on the internet of Christopher as Nine and eventually found my way onto Live Journal in August 2006 to lurk for a bit and I got my own account in October 2006. As luck would have it, Christopher would intervene again. I’d started watching Heroes when it premièred in September 2006. The adverts alone had gotten my interest. I’d watched every episode. Then in late November 2006, I’d gotten word that Christopher would be playing the invisible Claude on Heroes and we’d see him in January 2007. That revelation led me to the 9^th Wonders B Boards and from there to several other websites and to meet several cool people online. I now have an LJ, a MySpace, a TV Guide Blog, a Blog on My NBC, a Facebook, an Imeem as well as a parody Blogger account and a network of friends. I’m now heavily involved in Heroes ARG/ Evolutions. I’m not just back in Fandom, I’m entrenched. And I have the lovely Christopher Eccleston to thank for it. So, Christopher, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, I hope you are well and I just wanna say “Thank You!!!”

It's been so long since I'd sent that in, that all I recalled in detail was asking about Claude. I think I'd asked a lot of other stuff not just due to curiosity but in case NONE of my Claude-related querys were answerable. At least what little they did say regarding Claude confirms some of what I've seen in my cards. The rest, we'll see. And if anyone is still wondering I'm most definitely a SHE.

Here's the deal. According to my latest reports, my favorite actor, Christopher Eccleston is currently filming in Toronto. I just did a Google map to see what the distance was like. Granted It's not an easy drive but, other than perhaps when he filmed in NYC, this is likely the closest I've ever gotten to him or he to me:

The sad thing is I'm still waiting for a passport and even if I had it, I don't know where exactly they are filming, and even if I did, there's no guarantee that it's an open set, or that any of the cast have time to even say "Hello."

I'm still not sure whom to thank, but when I got in form work yesterday, Tuesday 17, June, 2008, I read the latest Heroes Graphic Novel online like I usually do. (Number 90). The story was great and the artwork was great, but there was also an easter egg, which was something I'd very much wanted to see for a long time. So to the whole GN team, thanks guys for everything. You really made my day!

What does an Invisible man wear during the summer?

Despite the title, I am trying to keep this serious (and at least G-PG13) as I've been wondering about this. It's been quite hot here, and given what Claude's usual outfit (as far as we know) is, I was wondering what he'd wear when it got hot. His "regular" outfit in its entirety would likely cause him to get heat stroke. As amusing as the idea of him with nothing on is, I think at the very least Claude must wear shoes to protect his feet, and some type of light pants or shorts with pockets not only for protection but also because we all know how he tends to nick things (gotta put them somewhere). He'd probably have a shirt on too. I don't know if his gift affords him any UV protection. Claude still gives off heat and it's likely he can feel it too, though I don't know how much affect UV rays have on him and there are some things you don't want sunburned ever. Also, NYC is crowded and if people can't see Claude, they are likely to bump into him. There are parts of the anatomy you don't want accidentaly bumped either. So in all seriousness I imagine Claude might look like this in the summer:

Causes and Concerns

As my friend, Psych-Gen, is doing a smashing job covering some news stories (over on My Space), I thought I ought to cover a concern of my own, which although newsworthy, not everyone may be aware of it: access to healthcare.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to have insurance and even those that are have had instances where providers "turned them away" because either the insurance did not cover what was needed or the provider did not accept that insurance. There is also an issue with prescription medications. Insurance companies are choosing which meds they cover and how many they will allow a subscriber to obtain. Often times there are no generics available and the meds are quite expensive even with the limited insurance coverage. I know there are people who have to choose between meds and food or meds and other necessities. Additionally, access to mental healthcare is limited. It takes a lot for someone to admit they have a problem but the system as is, often blocks people from receiving necessary treatment. While I do not support the actions taken by Leeland Eisenberg, this is one example of how very wrong things can go when someone is prevented from receiving necessary treatment. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Unfortunately, Mr. Eisenberg will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars and I’m not sure if any of his former hostages now need psychiatric treatment themselves. I also know of another case that did not make the news. A young woman in her late twenties was depressed and suicidal. She contacted a mental health group for help as she was aware that something was very wrong. The group took down her personal information as well as the information that not only was she depressed and suicidal, but also that she had numerous feasible plans to kill herself. However, when she told them who her insurance company was, they told her “Sorry, we can’t help you. We don’t accept that insurance.” No payment plan or alternate payment was offered, nor was emergency counseling or treatment offered. They simply said “sorry” and hung up on her. Fortunately, the young woman has survived and been treated by a different provider, but only after attempting suicide twice (also fortunately without debilitating damage). Some are not as fortunate. Some can’t even see that they are sick. Others attempt suicide and wind up with severely debilitating injuries from the attempts, or wind up dying. And some others hurt other people. The system is broken. We need to fix it. All of it!

Cut out the judging and labeling

OK, for those who don't know me and are just joining in reading welcome. For those who may be regular readers I think I need to make things a bit more clear.

I'm a Hospice/Geriatrics RN in real life. I am also a Heroes fan. While I know what I do is valuable, that doesn't stop it being stressful. I play video games and do online RP as a respite. I also do some minor photoshoping and I am also involved in the Heroes ARG. In case it is unclear to anyone reading, I know where the fiction line is thank you very much, and I also think it highly unlikely I will be able to meet my favorite actor Christopher Eccleston who plays Claude on Heroes (among several other amazing performances) in person. There is also a lot going on in real life that I don't always put online. So before you judge or lable me think about this: would you want someone dumping on you?

New Dream..set in future

So Just before 1 am this morning I had another dream.

It started out fairly mundane but then it got interesting. I was looking at a possible future for the world of Heroes. Not that far in the future. A few months for them, maybe a year. Someone had been giving Angela some substance... I can't call it a poison as it wouldn't kill her, just make her paranoid. Somehow Claude was blamed for it, even though he was innocent and Angela was using Company resources to try to track Claude down. Peter and Hiro were collaborating on something as well.

Latest Dream, I think it’s symbolic

On 5, May 2008, I'd had a weird dream which I listed here. Well on 14, May I had another one:

I was trying to hide from this guy who looked like Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Claude was in this dream and he was using his gift to hide us both. For some reason like the dream I had on the 5th, I was barefoot but this time my heels were cut and bleeding. I remember Claude speaking to me, softly, reassuring me. Then I woke up. The two common elements are Claude and the problem with my heels but I have no idea what it's supposed to mean this time.

Like the cut text tag says, "Not much to see here..." What I will tell you is that I dreamed of Claude yesterday. We were both invisible. As for the rest well... The rest is a bit more personal than I like to get even here on LJ. I will also tell you that last night at work was awful, but the memory of what I'd dreamed was enough to keep me going.

So on 2 May, I had a dream which picked up where my last dream had left off, though it was more a vision than a dream.

I saw Claude chained up as he'd been in my last dream/nightmare and just knew he was being accused of more than just hiding a special. I sensed but could not clearly see this older woman and just knew whomever she was, she had set Claude up both in the dream's present and before. My sight flashed back to the past Circa prior to the shooting on the bridge in Company Man (about 1999). The woman was involved and had killed someone. She was also aware Claude had hidden a special so this mystery wona betrayed Claude to save herself. I still couldn't see her clearly, but I did see Thomson give Bennet orders to kill Claude and Claude hiding in Bennet's office the whole time. Then my vision flashed back to the "present" but I woke up before I could attempt anything.

The next dream I had was on "Cinco de Mayo." Claude was with me in my apartment. We were sitting in my bedroom talking and I was using a sharp knife to cut callouses off my heels. I recall Claude cautioning me to be careful with the knife. I don't recall what else we discussed. I do remember chewing on some of the skin I'd cut off, not realizing what I was doing or why and when I'd become aware of it I spat it out. I recall being worried what Claude would think, but it didn't bother him. Then I woke up.

Not having a good day

So I was working Friday PM (May 2) into Saturday AM (May 3) and I had a really bad shift. Worse yet I got urine all over my scrubs, fortunately I did have a spare set. I slept poorly when I got back to my folks' (I was dog sitting all week). I got up early to pick things up before my folks came home with my brother from the airport. They got in and I tried to get my roommate as I was going to need some help getting into my apartment with all my stuff. All I got was voicemail. I figured he was busy, but when I got into the parking lot, his car was gone. I got into the building and his stuff is gone and he'd left a message on the machine saying he was going. Then my computer went bad. First I couldn't get online then I couldn't get it to boot. (I'm back at my parents', bless them). I dunno how often I'll be able to be online, or when I'll get my own computer fixed, but there it is. I really need a break.

Latest Nightmare (Claude please read!!!)

So among the upsetting dreams I had today, once I fell asleep, was the following dream:

I was inside Company headquarters and everyone seemed to be ignoring me. I saw Claude, chained up with some kind of handcuff affair. He was in a great deal of pain. More than anything I wanted to set him free, but I needed to get him away from whomever was hurting him. Felicia was near him as was some girl I'd never seen before. Felicia was hurting Claude and it made me mad. For some reason she and the other girl thought I was Company. I was going to play it cool, but when I saw her hurting Claude, I went after her. I knocked her and the other girl out but woke before I could get Claude free. For some reason Claude couldn't vanish. Also Angela and Bob were around somewhere nearby.

(ETA: I posted the exact text and message above originally on Imeem as we seem to be having characters from Heroes show up there as well as on the 9th Wonders Bboard. Near as I can tell, for the ARG, that's the only way one can interact with characters and thus get messages to them. Given the way my dreams tend to go and some of the occurrences in the ARG of late, I figured posting this was the best way to get the message to "Claude")

New Dream

So I'd probably get told off for being sappy, but I still enjoyed this dream I had this Sunday morning (20 April, 2008). It was fairly short. I woke up (in the dream) and Claude was sleeping across the foot of my bed. He woke up about the same time I did and I told him I loved him. I woke up for real after that .

So this wasn’t a Heroes dream, not directly. I was on the set for the new GI Joe movie watching Christopher Eccleston rehearse lines and practice his "Destro voice" and accent. In reality he will be playing Destro but in this dream Destro had been injured hence his voice was a bit hoarse and electronically enhanced (think Red Scarlatch in Death and the Compass) and the injury was why he wears the mask. I remember watching them hook the electronic microphones up to Chris and between them and the way he was speaking worrying that he was in pain and asked if it hurt.

"Nah. I’m OK," Chris replied in his normal voice, "It’s all part of the craft." He flashed me an appreciative smile before climbing into this box that was some kind of life support for Destro. I remember taking a good look at Chris before he disappeared into the box, and noticing he still had long hair and a beard. Me and some other crew personel had to then wheel Chris elsewhere on set for his scene. A friend of mine passed us on the way and was doing something silly, so I shooed him away and said it wasn’t time for that as work needed to be done. We’d just arrived at our destination and I was helping hook up more electronic stuff when I woke up.
